The Australian Bureau of Statistics records
the Hornsby Shire’s Filipino population every five years
in their Census collections
and also in their estimates in between Census periods.
The latest Census was conducted in 2016.
Out of 142,676 residents recorded in the Shire,
Filipino ancestry accounts to 1.7% (2,379 residents with Filipino heritage).
Relatively, the Filipino population in the Georges River
and Rockdale Ward, Bayside Councils
is likewise growing, approximately about a thousand residents.
With such growth over the years and aforeseen further growth,
the need to promote the Filipino heritage amongst youngsters is evident.
